Libros Mutantes is an independent project focused on the relationship between the publishing world and the visual arts. It promotes the annual "Libros Mutantes Art Book Fair," which takes place at the La Casa Encendida socio-cultural center in Madrid. The fair aims to bring together a wide selection of national and international art books, fanzines, and independent publications.
The goal is to create a temporary installation that accommodates the exhibition of 36 international publishers and a series of lectures and events featuring speakers of the caliber of Javier Mariscal and Kenneth Goldsmith.
The intervention reflects on the relationship between exhibitors and spectators, fostering the exchange of information and experiences, and promoting an environment of close and familiar interaction. Physical boundaries are dispersed, favoring an exhibition space characterized by continuous permeability centered around the main stage.
Isolated modules create multiple paths throughout the courtyard and expand the exhibition and contact perimeter. Vertical exhibitors attached to the perimeter walls provide a wide field of vision that enhances the architectural features of La Casa Encendida and enhances the experience during busy moments.
All materials used are derived from a previous partial recycling process and assembled with mechanical means, making the intervention reversible and ensuring that the materials have a second life after the fair is over.
